A Wednesday session at the Bridge Centre on 15th January was devoted as a tribute to Joyce Hessen who passed away a few months' ago. Joyce was a long-standing doyen of the bridge world in Cape Town for many years - as a player, as a teacher and as an organiser. Her passion for bridge knew no bounds and she was instrumental in setting up the Friendship Club. Her kindness, her dignity and her willing involvement to help wherever possible will be remembered by all who knew her.

A trophy was awarded to the winners of the session, Chris and Rob Evans, and will be awarded annually.
